Privacy policy

What we collect

We collect the account information you provide, such as email address; subscription and entitlement identifiers; Standard-game records and analysis; training answers and scheduling; settings; and limited operational telemetry such as errors, timing, device/browser category, and security logs.

Payment card details are collected and processed by Lemon Squeezy, not stored by Apex Gammon. We receive subscription, customer, payment status, and limited card-display details needed to operate your account.

Analytics and advertising measurement

We use first-party, session-scoped product analytics to understand whether visitors can find free play, learn about Alpha, start a trial, and use the play-review-train workflow. The browser creates random anonymous and session identifiers in session storage, which normally clears when the browser session ends. When you follow a link from apexgammon.com to analytics.apexgammon.com, those random identifiers may be passed in the link and immediately removed from the visible address after they are read.

First-party events can include the page or product action, broad viewport category, referring site, landing page, campaign tags supplied in the arriving URL, and coarse country, continent, or first-level region derived by our hosting provider from the request. We do not retain the visitor's IP address, coordinates, postal code, full user agent, or a browser fingerprint in this acquisition dataset. Administrative reporting receives aggregate counts rather than visitor-level records. We honor the browser's Do Not Track setting for this analytics client.

These events do not include email addresses, passwords, raw game positions, move lists, or model output. With your consent, we may also load Google Analytics and Google Ads measurement. Analytics consent permits Google to measure site and product use; advertising consent permits ad attribution. Personalized advertising is currently disabled. These services may use browser storage and receive page, device, campaign, and conversion information under Google's terms. Google code is not loaded before you make a choice, and rejecting non-essential measurement does not affect gameplay, accounts, or payment.

Your measurement choice is stored for up to one year in a first-party preference cookie so one choice applies across apexgammon.com and analytics.apexgammon.com. That cookie contains only the consent version, your analytics and advertising choices, and the time of the choice; it does not contain an account or advertising identifier.

Standard, Tutor, and manual-dice games

Standard automatic-dice games may be stored in your private game history and used to create your private review and training queue. Operational details needed to reproduce or support a game may be stored with the record.

Tutor games are not stored as game history and do not create Alpha Review. Manual-dice games are excluded from competitive statistics and Alpha-loss capture. Requests may still generate short-lived service or security logs.

Eligible Alpha losses

When a player defeats Alpha in an eligible Standard automatic-dice game, Apex may retain a restricted reproducible record to investigate the result and improve future Alpha versions. The record can include a pseudonymous account identifier, game state, dice, moves, Alpha version, and timing. It is not readable from the browser and does not include the player's email inside the game payload.

How we use data

• Provide authentication, membership, gameplay, Alpha Review, history, and training
• Recover failed sessions and investigate product or security failures
• Measure whether users complete the play-review-train loop
• Prevent abuse and protect Alpha and service infrastructure
• Investigate eligible Alpha losses and improve future Alpha versions
• Comply with legal, tax, accounting, and payment obligations

Service providers

We use Supabase for authentication and database services, Vercel for web hosting and application functions, Google Cloud for gameplay and review services, Google Analytics and Google Ads when consented for measurement, and Lemon Squeezy for checkout, tax, subscriptions, receipts, and payment support. These providers process data under their own terms and security programs.

Retention and control

We retain account and owned game/training data while your account is active and until deletion is requested, except where a longer period is needed for security, fraud prevention, backups, payment records, or legal obligations. You can export owned game/training data and request account deletion from Account. Deletion removes user-owned product data from active systems; legally required billing records and time-limited backups may remain.

Security and access

Row-Level Security limits browser database access to the signed-in user's records. Restricted service-improvement records use server-only credentials. No internet service is risk-free; report a suspected security issue promptly through Support.
